First installment of German design, Bottrop is the original demonstrator for the ISG (Indoor Skydiving Germany) vertical wind tunnel design. Several tunnels in Europe are using this (Voss, Brussels, Warsaw, St. Petersburg afaik). Some more are in planning or under construction. I've been flying in Bottrop since its construction 5 years ago and the tunnel is still as awesome to fly now as then. No leaks, no squeaks. Other tunnels I've flown are Perris (in 2004...), Airkix MK, Airkix Manchester, Paraclete XP and Windoor Empuriabrava (Prague/czech design). The only tunnel I would rather fly in over the ISG design is ParacleteXP for its sheer size, in terms of airflow quality nothing tops ISG. The location is not quite as central as others, but if you have access to a car there's plenty of other entertainment within a 10 minute drive (cinemas, malls, parks, you name it). The vibe is professionally relaxed and nice. There is usually pretty international staff on site, so English is readily spoken there. The bar has been changing operators a few times and offers a small selection of snacks, but if you're hungry the stack of delivery service menus at the reception (and their ready-made order lists) can get whatever you need.

Consider attaching the camera using Nylon screws. They will stand the stress of holding the camera in freefall but break under stress from catching lines. There isn't really a "slowmotion feature", just recording and playback frame rates. The more frames per second you can record, the slower the motion looks played back at 30 frames a second. In editing it will not cost you any processing time, as every frame exists and none have to be calculated/added. If the Sony is set to record at 120 fps, then in editing you can simply play it back at 120 fps (live speed) or at 30 fps (1/4th speed/slowmotion) WITHOUT having to generate frames with all the negative effects that can be seen in the "super slowmo" videos that popped up in the last two years using Twixtor Pro. These are generated by having a software generating frames which dont exits in the original footage, resulting in warping. On the technical side, encoding of the frames into the coded data stream should work based on the number of frames, not their recording speed, and thus your software should do fine as long as it supports the codec used (most likely MPEG4/h264 nowadays) HTH... The Cypres 2 gives you a 6 months before or after window for the maintenance date. If you send it off in the middle of the season, blame your own planning... I've had a Cypres2 for 8 years now. Will buy another one when I need it. If the window pops open and a cheapo AAD fires, the load is on you and the price difference equaled. That is, if your reserve pc stats inside the aircraft, hopefully. Just talked to a guy familiar with the matter the other day; in Norway they don't believe that an electronic device can have a 20 year life span without maintenance. I second that belief. So basically AAD needs to wait 20 years and then show a Vigil that is still working (without maintenance), then it will also be cleared for Norwegians. A german citizen living/residing in Germany is required to hold a german license. As you have a logbook to proove your AFF jumps and your US license, you will usually only have to take the written part of the license exam. National german regulations, weather etc. Should not be hard if you recently got your USPA license. For the drivers license analogists, you are required to get the countries license you reside in if your stay exceeds a certain length of time (iirc about 6 months). Same same but different. Isolated is a nice marketing term, however I am one of the customers affected and FEEL isolated by the way Alti-2 treats the issue. There's a thread on the Alti-2 forums about this subject, its 2 years old, claims there is a solution in the works and no results. 64bit systems are increasingly common, so the issue will become more widespread. It's not about N2s working together with MNU. Dont suggest anyone uses MNU for logging, please. Suggesting downloading a 10 year old OS and then virtualizing it to MAYBE get it to work is quite desperate. I have PAID for both the hardware and the software and I'm not willing to spend my time to hack together a solution. IRCOMM2Kwhat? Neither am I willing to get a new Neptune3 as I just spend quite a bit on the N2 shortly before the N3 came out. I'm ok with hacking, but I'd believe much of it is beyond many peoples computer skills. If Alti-2 arent willing to fix it, a trade-in of my N2 for an N3 for a little fee would be ok, too. Hacking and virtualization tells me the company either a) has no solution and/or b) doesnt care to solve the issue. Both not something i value as a customer. Especially if you're on a budget, tunnel is THE option. I tried getting to a good hd for like 300 jumps, not just solos, also with coaching. If you're on a budget, save. I know it's not what you want to hear. Tunnel coaching is factor 4 cheaper than coached jumps, and factor 2 cheaper than jumps with respect to time flown if you go in solo. It also gives perfect reference and a much more controlled environment, not even speaking of learning the position(s) technically right. I could have saved the 300 jumps and put it in the tunnel, I'd have been much better much quicker. I only learned headdown right once I was in the tunnel. Pretty much all the solo jumps I tried doing HD were wasted money in retrospect. Moneywise that would equal about 10 hrs tunnel time, at least 600 jumps worth of flying time. I was just looking through the suggestions checking whether or not to suggest this myself. However, referring to a "Like" as known from Facebook can be misleading, as every "like" on FB actually creates a link, resulting in immense masses of data. Many forums use "thank you" or "reputation" systems. I would highly appreciate the implementation of such a system, as it could massively improve readability by means of user-side filtering. I just read many posts in the Incidents forum, many of which were repetetive clutter, with only a few ones really sticking out once found. Being able to "repute" such posts (and the respective posters) could streamline the reading experience. I have been a somewhat long time dz.com member and thus know a handful of users usually posting excellently and worth reading, but it would be handy if there was an indicator of quality for individual post or at least posters. Like maybe the youtube Thumbs up or down system which indicates both pluses and minuses, which is good for a post on a controversial subject. I guess it comes with a high bandwidth demand (we're referencing FB and YouTube/ElGoog here!), but it would be nice to hear if it has/is being considered and what the lowdown is. My suits used to be quite a bit baggy but single fabric layer. They were flapping around and not really helping. A baggier suit will not make you fall much slower. Recently I switched to a slim suit that has cordura, double layers on arms and legs, and it provides more drag than my old bit-baggy suit. However, I have a more precise feel for the airflow because there is no flapping. Much more precise fly-feel. Freefly suits used to be baggy, the modern ones aren't anymore. If you look at old-timer pics, even RW jumpsuits used to be baggy way back when, neither are they anymore (except of course accounting these weird saussage-like leg and arm-expanders the attach to them ) The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. Just did my open water license and have a little understanding problem with this claim. If I understood correctly, the nitrogen (when using just compressed air, not NITROX) gets absorbed by the body but is not part of the metabolism. If that is true, speeding up the metabolism (working out) does not affect nitrogen re-solution. Opposite to carbon dioxide, which is part of the metabolism.
