I saw this picture on humortrain.com and couldn't beleive my eyes. I don't know if it's real but WTF is that thing! Do flying squirrels get that big? California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
freefal replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
The lack of adequate testing methods for "impairment" under the influence of MJ is the biggest hurdle I see with the legalization issue. A breathalyzer determines with relative accuracy how "drunk" you are by measuring how much alcohol is in your blood stream, but there is no accurate test to determine how “high” someone is. You can only see if they have THC in their urine, blood, hair etc. but it could still be there many months after someone “accidentally inhaled some secondhand smoke” at a party. Until a more accurate testing method can be developed, I can foresee a lot of legal issues with not just DUI/driving issues, but also work-place drug testing. Regardless, I hope the proposition passes. First, because it will keep a lot of otherwise "normal" people out of jail, and second, it will be interesting to watch a state stand up to the federal government. That's the biggest hurdle involved with medical MJ, or legal/recreational MJ if that comes to pass, IMO. A breathalizer gives a fairly accurate representation of how "drunk" someone is (although this varies a lot between individuals) so making laws based on blood alcohol levels makes sense because the laws are essentially based on a person's intoxication level. There doesn't seem to be an accurate test to determine how "high" someone is since THC can stay in their body for days, weeks, etc. depending on the argument and testing method. Perhaps all the changes in medical MJ laws will lead to more research and development into better testing methods. Until that happens though, it's theoretically possible for someone to loose their job because the stood next to a stoner at a party the weekend before. Unfortunately that red mark was from the chihuahua/mutt/something mix down the street with an attitude issue. Milo was always a friendly dog until he stuck his nose through the fence to say hi and that little bastard bit him. Now he get's pretty skittish around other dogs and tends to be agressive if he doesn't know them. But if you're a human, or especially a little kid, the worst he'll do is try to lick you to death. I've only seen him bark at one person in the 1 1/2 years we've had him. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

Back to the original topic of first amendment vs second amendment rights... It's a very interesting argument to replace "guns" with Muslims" in the original statement. What if we replaced "Muslim" with "Christian" or for that matter "religon"? We can''t have our cake and eat it to. ‘Tolerance is the cost we must pay for our adventure in liberty.' I was never much of a "dog person"... until Milo showed up. Why get a purebread when you can have the best of multiple breeds like a lab with big floppy ears and a bassset hound howl? And at about 45 lbs he's the perfect size!

THIS IS ISLAM, THE SO CALLED "RELIGION OF PEACE" :
freefal replied to Master_Yoda's topic in Speakers Corner
One general theme I notice is that the Bible quotes listed above seem to speak more about the wrath of God with things like "I will punish, Ye shall perish, God will kill, The Lord will..." while the Quran quotes speak more about the individual believers taking action themselves with things like, "Kill the unbelievers… Make war on the infidels… Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticize Islam. The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them.” Maybe that’s part of the misunderstanding? Overall though, this is actually a somewhat interesting thread compared to the typical, "my religion is better than yours" type of talk on SC because of the actual quotes from the Bible and the Quran. Even though they're taken out of context, at least they are here for everyone to see and discuss vs. just talking generally about what we think the two books are about. Maybe the most constructive thing to do would be to provide some context to a few or at least your personal understanding of what you feel the context of some of these are… And more importantly, how they apply to your everyday life. I don’t normally post in SC, but this quote really caught my eye: “Ground Zero is today an American, historical memorial. It is hollowed ground.”… Ok, if it’s truly hallowed ground, then why don’t people have problems with the ‘gentleman’s clubs’, peep shows, bars, etc. that are in the same area as (and in some cases closer to GZ than) this proposed Mosque? I guess it’s ok to buy porn and cheeseburgers on “hallowed ground” but we can’t have a place of worship. http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/08/16/2010-08-16_a_sea_of_filth_near_ground_zer0_mosque_gets_all_the_press_but_porns_around_corne.html http://daryllang.com/blog/4421 “‘Tolerance is the cost we must pay for our adventure in liberty.” -Ronald Dworkin "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... Are there any riggers near the north part of valley? And if the term "rigger" isn't politically correct anymore, then I meant to say "Parachuting American". Also, my wife said she heard that we could get something to make the cat's poo smell or taste "undesireable" to the dog. It's poop! I'm not sure how it could be any less desireable. I saw an add for dog food the other day where they were talking about how it had "real bits of meat" or something like that... And I thought to my self, why don't they just make one with real bits of cat sh!t? I betcha dogs would LOVE it! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... Out here in AZ, our house backs up to a "dry" river bed that has been sizeable pond for a while due to rain. Where there's water in the desert all the critters come out to play and we hear coyotes all the time out back, but I haven't seen one until this past weekend. 10:00 in the morning, walking my dog and we come across a 30-40lb coyote about 50 yards away. He just casually looked at us and stood his ground. My dog was suprisingly mellow compared to how he reacts to other dogs. Maybe he knew somehow that you don't mess with the wild ones!
