This was widely viewed as being patently unfair, and there were strong objections raised against the Texas authorities' failure to recognize accepted social norms.

One way or another, committing murder in Texas is a singularly bad career move, and staying well clear of people give to such actions is strongly advised.

I think you may be confused with the "60 day rule".

Oh and it isn't a social norm either, it refers back to Article 701 of the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure.

I agree with that only if those people are not mentally capable of understanding right from wrong, if they are unable to understand the consequences of their decisions etc. In other words, if they're not responsible for their actions.

The 5th Amendment to the Constitution says: "No person shall be ... deprived of life ... without due process of law."

The 14th Amendment says: "No state shall ... deprive any person of life ... without due process of law."

Perhaps that due process was not to peoples liking but he got it.

No where in our founding documents that I know of does it give an exemption for having a low IQ as a defense.

Jeffrey Dahlmer raped, killed and ate parts of at least thirteen men. As punishment, the government was planning to feed, clothe, educate, medicate, entertain, and legally represent him for the rest of his life. Families of his victims would pay taxes, in part, to keep Dahlmer comfortable, warm in winter and cool in summer. That type of punishment should scare the dickens out of other mass murderers.

Nonsense confusion of correlation with causation - the homicide rate in New York has fallen since the death penalty there was abolished. There are too many confounding factors for your statement to be even remotely believable.

For 2010, the average Murder Rate of Death Penalty States was 4.6, while the average Murder Rate of States without the Death Penalty was 2.9

I'm really on vacation, Jim... Before they sent me back in here... I was living in a shelter, Bed bugs and lice all over the place... All my shit in a storage unit... Working and going to school getting a 3.80 gpa.. eat one meal a day.... And dealing with a asshole probation officer...

I'm in a nice new prison... A/C and health care .. Clean bed sheets and 3 good meals a day... I spent the day watching the Olympics and enjoying the days.. I'm just going to tell them to stick there probation up their ass and I'll do the last 3yrs and then they can't fucking give me shit.... No more assholes to jump through hoops for..

That boy's and girls is prison life.... Now you understand .... Prison is not really a bad place to be...

That's Federal prison. Then, there's San Quentin, Jackson, Rikers Island, Huntsville, just to name a few. Most non-Federal prisons are run by gangs and are just plain ugly places to try to exist in.
I knew a guy at a local Federal pen who was allowed to live in his own little house trailer. He took an oilfield rap for his dad.
